Emissions figures for cars and light goods vehicles are only available from November
1991, when this item was added to the MOT test. The figures shown are therefore
for the period November 1991- March 1992. |

Emissions testing is not carried out on motorcycles. |

Figures up to 1993/94 include light goods vehicles and private passenger vehicles. |

From 1994/95 petrol and diesel emissions tests are calculated individually as
a percentage of petrol or diesel vehicles tested. Previously
this was a percentage of all vehicles (petrol and diesel) tested. |

From 1993/94 figures for seat belts have been included in the 'other' category. |

Figures from 1994/95 for private passenger vehicles come from a much more accurate
sample due to a revised method of estimating the number of tests. |
